[CW: Mention of severe burns]
The only dream I ever have is the surface of the sun.
Every time I shut my eyes
It’s always the same
Always the same
Wake up, Capa…
The distinctly feminine voice is pleasant, but it fades in and out as light begins to bloom. It’s soft and gentle, like the rising sun. It’s yellow at first, with pretty hints of pinks and reds that peek out from all sides. But it grows and grows until it’s unbearably bright, the sunset-like tendrils drowned out by the yellow that has grown ugly spots that move like lava.
Wake up, Capa…
KANEDA!
Panting. Gasping. Hard boots on metal. The light is gone, replaced by a cold blackness that stretches on forever. Small dots begin to appear, one by one, dizzying in their rate of multiplication. A hand reaches out to touch them and the blackness is ripped away, replaced by an image of the sun. And suddenly a sense of falling into it…the dots appearing like stars in your face as you fall inside. There’s screaming…
KANEDA!
Wake up, Capa…
The only dream I ever have is the surface of the sun.
It’s always the same
That feminine voice brings you back to a ship, cold metal around you. There’s a window in front of you, which shows stars that are far too bright and planets that are far too numerous. In the center is the sun and once your vision locks on it, you start moving faster and faster. Turning around, there’s a man covered in burns, with skin peeling and blackened. He is breathing heavily and you step away.
"Are you an angel? Has the time come? I've been waiting so long…"
The room fills with light and the man disappears, replaced with a crew of men and women, who have alternating faces. Except for one woman. She steps forward as the sunlight washes out the rest. She speaks, but the voice is not hers.
"We’re all just stardust…right?"
WAKE UP, CAPA…
The sunlight engulfs the room and there’s a sense of extreme heat. Echoes of screams that aren’t Capa’s…then silence and nothing but the surface of the sun before it ends abruptly.

You kind of have a thing for the sun, don't you?
[Private]
When you spend years studying it and months traveling towards it, it...starts to become a part of you.
[Private]
Why were you travelling toward the sun? Seems... kind of... a lot dangerous. With, like, all the radiation and stuff.
[The only person who goes toward the sun where he's from is Superman, and that's because he thrives on sunlight.]
[Private]
I...there was a device I built to fix it. To start it up again. And we needed to send it into the sun.

What about you? Sleeping better?
