cisskabob[It's been about three weeks since the Easter egg exploded in her hand, and most of the superficial cuts and bruises have healed or faded enough that Cissie's no longer avoiding the video function on the tablets. Video is still easier than texting, even though the burns on her hands seem to be healing well enough. In any case, her hands aren't visible right now, and if she's still got some bruises visible... well, she can live with it. She looks fairly serious, though, addressing the tablet's camera thoughtfully.]
I've been wondering something for a while now. It seems like a lot of you know each other from wherever you come from. Friends, coworkers, even family members. Is that... what counts as normal here? I guess what I'm asking is, how many of us have someone here that they know, personally, from back home?
And--just as important. How many people don't have anyone here that they know? Or--and--are there other people here like me, who have met friends or family here in the hotel--but those friends are not actually the friends you know from home? Or the family doesn't recognize you at all? I mean, it's just. It seems weird, that on the one hand, there are a bunch of people who are all connected to each other, and then on the other hand--here, have a relative, only that relative has no idea who you are!
I guess since we're cataloging what we're all good at, I figured it was worth a shot to ask this stuff too. It makes sense that if you have friends or family or coworkers here, you'd stick together with them, but the rest of us who don't? We should have a support system to rely on too, right? Which... is what making friends is all about, which I guess is my point.
[If she has a point. This is not the point she intended to be making. She trails off, chewing on her lip a bit. She glances at her hand off camera, flexing it and managing not to wince, not really. She visibly steels herself, then looks back to the camera and continues.]
There's another thing that's bugging me, that I'm curious about. The places we all come from, they seem--pretty different. From each other, I mean. Is it--I mean, are other people finding that... Okay, say you're a pretty recognizable person at home. Like, people might even come up to you in a restaurant and ask for your autograph kind of recognizable. But here, no one has a clue who you are? I mean, I guess it goes along with not having people from your world here, but it seems like some things might be... applicable to multiple realities?
Like, okay. Superheroes. Everyone has those, right? I'm starting to wonder if that's not actually the case. But where I'm from, they're totally normal and on the news like all the time. Kids learn that when you're in trouble, you call for the cops and Superman. Chances are the cops will get there before Superman, unless you're in Metropolis or something, but still. The Justice League is kind of public knowledge. They kind of save the world... a lot. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, the Flash, Aquaman...
[She swallows and she shifts uncomfortably; this is going to get a reaction from some people, and she knows it, but she has to know. So she shrugs.]
Anyway, I guess I'm just curious as to how different my world is from everyone else's, since it seems like there are people here from other versions of my world, but not mine directly.
[She sighs, and ends the post.]
